1) Overview

DeskBridge is a utility that connects your Android device to your PC over the same local network (LAN). It enables clipboard sync (IME) and optional file/text sharing to your paired PC.

DeskBridge is designed to be offline-first: it does not require an account, and it does not use cloud servers to store your content.

2) Data we collect

We do not collect personal data, and we do not run analytics or advertising SDKs.

  • No account data: we don’t ask for your name, email, phone number, or login.
  • No analytics: we don’t track usage, clicks, installs, or behavior.
  • No cloud storage: clipboard content and shared files are transferred directly to your PC on the local network.
  • No selling: we do not sell personal information.

DeskBridge may store minimal configuration locally on your device (e.g., the paired PC address and a pairing token) so you don’t have to re-pair each time.

3) Permissions

DeskBridge requests only what’s necessary for features you explicitly use:

  • Camera — used only to scan a QR code for quick pairing.
  • Foreground service — used to keep the bridge active when you start it (clipboard sync / sharing).
  • Read access to selected files — only when you pick files to send (via system file picker / share sheet).
  • Network access (LAN) — required to communicate with your PC on the same Wi-Fi / local network.

You can use many parts of the app without granting all permissions (for example, without camera if you don’t use QR).

4) Local network (how transfer works)

DeskBridge transfers content only between your devices on the same local network (LAN). Typical flows:

  • Clipboard sync: copy on Android → delivered to your paired PC app.
  • File sharing: you select files → the app uploads them directly to your paired PC on the LAN.
  • Text sharing: you choose “Share → DeskBridge” → text is sent directly to your PC.

DeskBridge does not route your content through third-party servers.

5) Security

Pairing uses a token (shared via QR or manual entry) to prevent accidental connections. Keep your token private and only pair with PCs you trust.

  • Token-based pairing: your phone sends data only to the paired PC (IP/host + token).
  • Local-only scope: the intended use is within the same LAN.
  • User control: file sharing happens only when you select files and press send.

Important: if your local network is compromised, LAN traffic can be at risk. Use trusted Wi-Fi networks.

6) Children

DeskBridge is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.

7) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page.
